Clear gelcoat for general composite mouldings
BB9777 Clear provides a clear surface layer for composite mouldings. Film thickness, catalyst level, temperature and cure time must follow the TDS and production trials.

- Viscosity: 7,000–10,000 mPa·s at 25°C
- Thixotropic index: 4.5–7.0
- Gel time: 10–16 minutes at 25°C
- TDS gel data: 2% MEKPO
- Minimum Barcol hardness: 30–35 after 7 days
- Typical shelf life: 3 months below 25°C
Application
- The mold must be clean and treated with a suitable release system before brushing gelcoat.
- Stir gently before use to avoid entraining air. Add MEKPO per the TDS; at 25°C with 2% MEKPO, gel time is 10–16 minutes.
- Brush an even coat; two coats can be applied, the second once the first has tacked up. Avoid one heavy coat.
- Laminate once the gelcoat has cured enough (no transfer to the touch but still slightly soft); do not leave it too long.
Choosing the right grade
BB9777 Clear is isophthalic and UV-stabilized, giving a clear surface that shows the color or pattern beneath. For an opaque white surface use BB9777 White. For general molded parts at lower cost, consider orthophthalic LB9888.
Storage
Store below 25°C away from sunlight; typical shelf life 3 months. Keep containers closed after opening.
