White gelcoat for general composite mouldings
BB9777 White provides a white surface layer for composite mouldings. Final colour and coverage should be confirmed on the actual substrate and under production conditions.
Key TDS data
- Viscosity: 7,000–10,000 mPa·s at 25°C
- Thixotropic index: 5.0–7.0
- Gel time: 5–10 minutes at 25°C
- TDS gel data: 2% MEKPO
- Minimum Barcol hardness: 30–35 after 7 days
- Typical shelf life: 3 months below 25°C
Application
- Use a clean mold treated with release. Stir gently before use for uniform color without entraining air.
- At 25°C with 2% MEKPO, gel time is 5–10 minutes, shorter than the Clear grade: mix small batches and work quickly.
- Brush evenly; two coats may be needed for hiding. Uneven thickness can cause color variation or fiber print-through.
- Laminate once the gelcoat has cured enough; do not leave it too long.
Choosing the right grade
Same isophthalic, UV-stabilized base as BB9777 Clear, in opaque white. Suited to parts needing a white surface such as tanks, equipment housings and outdoor parts. Confirm the final color on actual samples.
Storage
Store below 25°C away from sunlight; typical shelf life 3 months. Re-stir before use after long storage.
