ATL KINETIX Epoxy Resin – R104

Clear laminating epoxy formulated for surfboards

KINETIX R104 is used with H125 Standard or H130 Fast and cures to a clear, bloom-free finish for surfboards, clear timber, carbon and tinted laminates.

R104 is recommended where a clear timber, exposed carbon or tinted laminate finish is required. The two hardener options allow fabricators to select a processing speed that suits ambient temperature and production timing.

Key benefits

Typical processing data at 25°C

• H125 Standard: 35-minute pot life for a 100 g mix
• H130 Fast: 15-minute pot life for a 100 g mix
• Mixed viscosity with H125: 500 mPa·s
• Mixed viscosity with H130: 720 mPa·s
• With H130, a laminate may be flipped in approximately 3 hours and sanded in approximately 5 hours at 25°C
• Actual cure speed depends on ambient temperature and mixed mass

Applying additional epoxy coats

Before applying another epoxy coat over cured material, rinse the surface with clean water and wet-abrade it with sandpaper or a Scotch-Brite pad to promote inter-coat adhesion. ATL Composites recommends a white Scotch-Brite pad rather than a colored pad for this application. Allow the surface to dry before overcoating.
